Client-Side Security Notice: 2ClickKit inspects JWT headers and claims 100% in your browser. Because verification requires exposing your private/secret key to the client, secret key verification is intentionally omitted to keep your application credentials secure.

How to Use JWT Token Decoder

  1. Paste your JWT token

    Paste any JSON Web Token (header.payload.signature) directly into the top input area.

  2. Inspect Header and Payload claims

    Review decoded JSON objects for algorithm details, issuer, subject, scopes, and custom user claims.

  3. Check expiration status

    Instantly view whether the token is currently active or expired, with exact timestamps and relative countdowns.

Decoded JWT Claims Example

Decoded Payload Object
{
  "sub": "1234567890",
  "name": "John Doe",
  "admin": true,
  "iat": 1516239022
}

Header and payload are formatted as clear, syntax-highlighted JSON.

Technical Specifications

  • Supported Inputs: JWT (JSON Web Tokens), Base64URL encoded strings
  • Input Limit: Unlimited client-side computation

Frequently Asked Questions

How is the JWT decoded?

A JSON Web Token consists of 3 Base64URL-encoded parts separated by periods. The tool decodes the first two parts (Header and Payload) in your browser using standard JavaScript Base64URL decoding.

Is my secret key or private JWT sent to any server?

No! 100% of decoding happens locally in your browser. Zero bytes are uploaded or saved, making it completely safe for debugging authorization tokens.

Does this tool verify token signatures?

Signature verification requires providing your application secret or private RSA key. To protect your private keys from being exposed on the web, verification is intentionally omitted.

What timestamps does the inspector understand?

Standard JWT timestamp claims like exp (expiration time), iat (issued at), and nbf (not before) are automatically converted into human-readable local and UTC times.
