Frequently Asked Questions
Are my confidential PDF documents uploaded to a server?
No. All PDF processing is executed 100% locally on your computer using in-browser WebAssembly and client-side JavaScript (pdf-lib). Your contracts, tax returns, bank statements, and private files never leave your device.
Is there a limit on how many PDF files I can merge?
There are no artificial software limits or paywalls. You can merge as many PDF files as your computer or mobile memory allows (typically dozens of documents and hundreds of pages).
Can I merge password-protected PDF files?
If a PDF has an open password, you must remove the password before merging. In-browser merging requires readable document streams to extract and copy the page objects.
Does merging alter original document formatting or hyperlinks?
No. The pdf-lib engine performs non-destructive page copying. Vector text, high-resolution embedded images, font streams, form fields, and page dimensions remain intact.
